Gender Pay Gap Reporting

We are an employer required by law to carry out Gender Pay Reporting under the Equality Act 2010 (Gender Pay Gap Information) Regulations 2017.

This involves carrying out six calculations that show the difference between the average earnings of men and women in our organisation; it will not involve publishing individual employees’ data.

The number of employees at 5 April 2017 was 593 of which 400 were female and 193 were male.

We are required to publish the results on our own website and a government website. We will do this within one calendar year of April 5th 2017.

The six calculations are:

1. Mean hourly gender pay gap is 21.6%

2. Median hourly gender pay gap is 0.0%

3. Mean bonus gender pay gap is 86.5%

4. Median bonus gender pay gap is -1.3%

The proportion of males and females receiving a bonus payment

a) Male 10.88%

b) Female 6.8%

The proportion of males and females in each quartile pay band

Lower quartile

Lower middle quartile

Upper middle quartile

Upper quartile

When looking at the results it is apparent that the mean calculations are affected by the remuneration paid to the directors of the business. If the directors of the business are excluded the Mean hourly gender pay gap is 8.3% and the Mean bonus gender pay gap is -7.6%.

The company have for many years employed both male and female staff and operate a policy of remunerating staff at the rate applicable for the job, regardless of gender.

We can use these results to assess:

 the levels of gender equality in our workplace

 the balance of male and female employees at different levels

 how effectively talent is being maximised and rewarded.

Gender Pay Reporting requires our organisation to make calculations based on employee gender. We will establish this by using our existing HR and payroll records. All employees can confirm and update their records if they choose to by contacting your area manager.

I confirm that the figures in our disclosure are accurate and have been calculated in accordance with gender pay gap reporting requirements as outlined in the legislation and accompanying guidance.

Last Saturday we were delighted to welcome Belle Vue Aces Speedway superstar Craig Cook to our Walkden Retail megastore.

Craig is sponsored by Quality Save and he kindly agreed to spend some time with us to meet his fans.

We were overwhelmed by the huge number of fans who braved the wind and cold conditions to come and meet Craig at the store.

Craig brought along his British Speeedway championship trophy which he won in June 2017.

He also brought along his racing bike which he uses this season.

Joining him at the store was Belle Vue Aces mascot 'Chase the Ace' who joined in the fun at the store.

A big thanks to Eddie Garvey for his photos.

Thanks to eveyone who came along and had a great time.

If you have ever been in our stores and wondered who the guy with the dulcet tones is...look no further!

Chris is a big Ultravox/Midge Ure fan (Not that that was the only reason we picked him!) and has been entertaining our customers and staff for a number of years now.

Chris has been heavily involved in our relaunch of QS Live this month with great new daily features including Battle of the Artists where customers can vote on Facebook for their favourites.

“You can tell that Chris Marsden has landed on his feetwith QS LIVE, as he has little hesitation in naming the one item he couldn't be without if he was stranded on a desert island - a radio!

Sheffield-born Chris and his unique brand of banter lights up the airways every day for Quality Save

However, Chris' sublime professionalism in front of the microphone does not extend to his somewhat eccentric initial tastes in music.

The first record he ever bought is hardly one to shout about, with Keith Harris and Orville's 'I Wish I Could Fly' about as embarrassing as it gets for a first purchase in a record shop.

The QS staff have vowed to stop him from ever dusting down his vinyl copy of the dreaded tune and disgracing our shopping aisles with it.

You can hear Chris everyday across our stores have a listen....

You may have heard Chris on TV, radio, gaming and even the movies with his voiceovers and radio productions

So great entertainment and quality music are guaranteed as Chris Marsden informs and entertains you on QS LIVE”

Our Middleton store is open till 8pm Thursdays and Fridays throughout August.

We have extended our opening hours now that the shopping centre has a gym that is open late every day.

Customers of the gym were asking why they could'nt get their branded energy drinks from us when they had finished a work out...So problem solved.

Late nights are a great way to bag bargains without the hustle and bustle and don't forget easy parking is on site as well.
